Why Flay.Com?

While the dictionary definition of the word "Flay" is as follows:

to strip the skin or flesh from, to flay || to peel off the skin or bark from, to flay willows || to fleece, charct (a person) extortionately || to criticize harshly.

but the naming of this site arose from less drastic (and painful) roots. The word, four letters and almost impossible to misspell (good attributes for a internet domain) is the name of a character in three of Mervyn Peake's books, often referred to as the Gormenghast trilogy. "Titus Groan", "Gormenghast" and "Titus Alone" happen to rank among this site's author's favorites. And we think it's kind of cool.

Who makes this site?
Flay.Com was created by Christopher Stewart and has been running in one form or another since 1995. The author is a visual effects artist working in film and television. Credits include Stargate SG1, The Outer Limits, Smallville and the features Good Boy, Garfield and Elektra.

notes:

-Straight banner runs such as these are purchased in advance and have various duration's of exposure. While we can approximate the length of time it will take to exhaust a certain number of pageviews, it will be dependent on a number of factors including the number of other advertisers and site general traffic. If you have a particular "end date" of a special promotion or other time-sensitive matter, we'll be glad to work with you to facilitate that. In general, one hundred thousand banners will last a month.

-Multiple campaigns can be run with one purchase. If given two ads we can, for example, take a purchase of 100,000 pageviews and split it across two banners in any percentage requested. Each banner can go to a different URL. New banners can be substituted for the old with two days notice during the length of an advertising run.

-You may request and receive, by e-mail (or other arrangement), a set of statistics indicating your banner(s) performance. This includes the total number of views to date and the number of "click-thrus". These statistics can be verified against your own web-servers's logfiles. If you do not know how to access your server's logs, contact your ISP or system administrator.
